Gaganyaan Mission Timeline and Key Updates
The first crewed flight, which will send Indian astronauts (Gaganyatris) to Low Earth Orbit (LEO), is now officially targeted for the first quarter of 2027.
The program is currently in its final phase with an aggressive schedule of uncrewed test flights planned for 2025 and 2026.

Mission Objectives and Components
The primary goal is to demonstrate India's indigenous capability to launch a human spaceflight mission into Low Earth Orbit and safely return the crew.
Launch Vehicle: The mission will use the Human Rated Launch Vehicle (HRLV), a modified version of India's most powerful rocket, the Launch Vehicle Mark III (LVM3).
Spacecraft: The Gaganyaan Orbital Module consists of the Crew Module (CM), which is the habitable, pressurized cabin, and the Service Module (SM), which contains the propulsion and power systems.
